The Tree That Never Was, The Odyssey of White Fir

The Willapa Harbor Knotfish is particularly difficult to locate. Not yet extinct, he is one of the few still to be found.

Wildflowers abound in the Pacific Northwest and in the summer the fields are filled with wild daisies.

Sometimes while searching for a Knotfish, it's easy to find yourself seeing double. 

Evergreen trees are everywhere in Western Washington State, so it is no surprise to find White Fir in the area. 

Cardboard! Recycle bins. Great source of shipping boxes and also packaging boxes which can be much more colorful, but have to hit the bin just before it gets emptied.

Restaurants get a lot of shipments! So do grocery stores and big box stores. Kudos to our privately owned local grocery store that was incredibly helpful. Some of the graphics are fantastic!

Plastic! Everywhere you look! The bane of the planet these days. Varies in size, shape, and thickness, but so easily available. 

Half the weight of a 4" x 4" piece of wood. Stack eco blocks to adjust shelf height. Eco Blocks length sized to standard 1 inch boards.  

Casters make for easy movement. 

Toys and retail packaging have a wide variety of colorful and engaging graphics. Video showing construction is in process. Link will be here when it's done. 

At work clamping three 2 x 4's in place until the glue is dry. Maximum clamping 5-7/8 inches. Made from recycled wood rescued from shipping crates with aluminum fittings and steel handle shaft.
